| So, I finished the play. Like, finished. It's done. Wow.

| So it seems to be the popular opinion that God often brings us through trials because we've grown complacent, and need to be reawakened to Him. So the trials are kind of God's way of saying "Hey, I'm still here." (I'm commenting on this because I just read something about it. I'm not like upset or anything.) I don't think I really need to reiterate my opinions on this idea. But basically, I disagree. It seems to me that the trials aren't God's way to reawaken us so that we can be taught, but rather the method He uses to teach.
Eh, I can't develop this thought right now. I've said it before. Throw me your thoughts, if you like.
Peace.

| I think I can honestly say that I don't care. Is that heartless? Really, I'm bound to get as sick of hearing about this as I got of hearing about Columbine and 9-11. Come on, people, we live in a mad world. There are crazy people out there. Call them evil, if you want, we mean pretty much the same thing. But those people were going to die eventually anyway. People die. It's what they do. It's really the only thing you can count on from anyone. That at some point they will die. No matter how much aspirin they take. Are we supposed to be more upset that they died young than if they'd died older? Or are people mostly just upset that they have to deal with the grief now instead of later?
What is the issue here? Is the issue that people died? People die every day, and we don't bat an eye. Is it that there were so many in one place that died? Well, that's still not too uncommon. Just think how many die in hospitals daily. Maybe the issue is the manner in which they were killed. Shootings. But then, we support military actions where far more people die. Is it that they were in college? Well, I guess that brings us back to the military thing, really. Perhaps it's that these people didn't know they might die that day, they weren't expecting to go to class and get shot. Well, yeah, that sucks. But how often is death really expected? Is the issue that the gunman was crazy, and Batman wasn't there to save anyone?
Maybe it matters that the people who died were Americans. But to tell you the truth, I don't really feel any connection to them. They might as well be in another country, for all I feel connected to them. Yeah, we're united under the same empire, but I've never been to Virginia. I've not even been near Virginia since I was a kid. To me, it might as well be on the other side of the world. It's like any vast empire, to me. And you didn't hear people crying in Judea when there was a massacre in Britain. They were a part of the same country, but they were still completely unrelated.
So no, in case you thought of asking, I don't feel bad about what happened. It will not go on my list of great tragedies for the human race. I feel some sympathy for the families of the dead, who probably valued life too highly, and who were probably unprepared for their loss. But it doesn't weigh me down. I don't need to mourn. I don't wonder what this world's coming to, when some idiot can chain doors shut and nobody finds it odd. I don't fear that we're slipping into a new era of corruption, and I don't blame violent video games, gun laws, or homosexuals. Some people are just fucked up, can't handle life, and have to deal with it by lashing out. Some people choose to do that with guns. It sucks, but that's pretty much the way it is.

| I saw Stranger then Fiction tonight. You know, the apparently light comedy starring Will Ferrell about the guy who's in a story and he can hear the narrator's voice and all that. The idea I had a couple of years ago (at least as a premise, though not plot.) Anyway, it might be the best movie I've ever seen. Go watch it. Now.

| Okay, so who wants to hear about Dan being a giant geek?
Alright, so I'm a member of this Harry Potter fan Facebook group, where we discuss (naturally) all things remotely Harry Potter. Some 85,000+ members. So a couple of days ago, I get a message from one of the admins asking me if I want to be an officer (for which, there is apparently a giant waiting list of people that have asked her if they can be an officer) because the contributions I've made to the group are standing out. And as if that very fact didn't make me a big enough geek, I was kind of honored to be asked. So needless to say, I am now an officer of the biggest Harry Potter related Facebook group. Wow. And to think, a couple of years ago I wouldn't even read it...
